THIS IS HOW I USED PERFORMANCE BASED AESTHETICS TO CHANGE MY RELATIONSHIP WITH FOOD AND IMPROVE MY BODY COMPOSITION WHILE GETTING FITTER

When I first entered CrossFIt Paleo and Zone were told to be the avenue to achieving the best performance in the gym. This led me to cut out anything that resembled a crumb of bread. Yet over and over again, I would find myself in situations where I would decide to have a “cheat meal” and it turn into an all out binger. I knew how bad i felt after those binges. I would go into the gym feeling sluggish. It would normally take me a few days to feel good again.

​I kept riding the ups and downs of trying to make up for those bingers telling myself I would just get back on track the next day. Yet over time, my body started changing (and not in a good way). I was GAINING WEIGHT while living on a RESTRICTIVE diet for years. This led me to start to experiment with fasting as a way to make up for the damage. So now on top of the sluggish feelings I was getting from binging, I was also experiencing the energy dips from underfueling my workouts.
As the weight crept up, I found myself focusing on my diet more as a way to lose fat rather than to optimize how I was feeling in the gym. Yet the type of training I did was leaving me so hungry that it felt impossible to stick to what I THOUGHT I was supposed to stick to.

My fears of eating too much were leaving me underfed only to find myself starving all the time. I don’t know exactly where I gave up and lived in secrecy with my unhappiness because it happened so subtly. Yet i stayed committed to the restrictive protocols I had put on myself and continued to feel curious about living life a different way.
