When I first entered CrossFIt Paleo and Zone were told to be the avenue to achieving the best performance in the gym. This led me to cut out anything that resembled a crumb of bread. Yet over and over again, I would find myself in situations where I would decide to have a “cheat meal” and it turn into an all out binger. I knew how bad i felt after those binges. I would go into the gym feeling sluggish. It would normally take me a few days to feel good again.
I kept riding the ups and downs of trying to make up for those bingers telling myself I would just get back on track the next day. Yet over time, my body started changing (and not in a good way). I was GAINING WEIGHT while living on a RESTRICTIVE diet for years. This led me to start to experiment with fasting as a way to make up for the damage. So now on top of the sluggish feelings I was getting from binging, I was also experiencing the energy dips from underfueling my workouts.
